What you didn’t know about Pakistan
Did you know that Islamabad is the second most beautiful country in the world?!
I did not know until my host told me after I kept telling him in awe of how GREEN and BEAUTIFUL the city is!
I thought I was going to walk into a deserted landscape but it is the complete opposite!
Everything is structured in blocks and every block has its own center or marketplace. It’s a small, very peaceful, and calm city. No hustle and bustle in this capital city!
It is home to the second highest mountain in the world.
The K2 or Karakorum mountain range is the second highest in the world and also one of the deadliest one. The range passes through Pakistan, India, China, and extending towards Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
Expedition to the Karakorum can be arranged with www.karakoroumexpedition.com
You must have heard of India vs Pakistan debate all the time, but did you know that they compete every single day since the 1960s at the border?!
The Rangers perform a parade and they both compete on who stomps the loudest, swing their leg highest, and untying the flag!
It’s a very light and patriotic event where both sides chant to their country’s slogan and cheer for their rangers. It’s definitely an experience you shouldn’t miss.
There’s a Kingdom within Democratic Pakistan.
Say what?! How is that even possible right?
Up until 40 years ago, Gilgit Baltistan had its own kingdom, until the last king decided to be a part of the democracy. The royal family still holds their title and receives royalties from the Pakistani government.
I was mind blown about this unheard fact. However, the people of Gilgit Baltistan don’t carry the privilege of a Pakistani citizen since the UN considers it as a disputed area.
They have a different culture, language, features, and traditions. It’s like stepping in an entirely different country.
One of the largest mosques in the world can be spotted from every angle in the capital city!
The mosque is funded by King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, hence the name Faisal Mosque. It’s shaped like a Bedouin tent. The mosque is located on the Margala hills which make it visible from everywhere in Islamabad.
They have taken the ATM technology and capability on a new level!
Pakistan installed an ATM at 16,000 feet above sea level withstanding extreme weather conditions!
They also made it to the Guinness world record!
Highest international border crossing in the world
Khunjerab pass is also the highest border crossing in the world! It’s the border of Pakistan and China. You could make your way up there if you are ever in Hunza! It’s only 3 hours ride away.
